"Bedclothes" 2021

Fabric has memory. It serves a utilitarian purpose in our lives, but also has aesthetic appeal, from the clothing we wear, to the sheets we sleep on. Working on objects from my home, from my childhood, I create a dialogue with the life the material had before it enters the studio, responding to the textures, colors and patterns already present in the fabric, but also drawing upon past experiences and feelings that emerge. A life already exists in the object and in my memory, and in this series, I seek to bring it out through color and shapes, while preserving the surface of the material.
